What is the pelvic floor?
It is a group of muscles that are located at the bottom of your pelvis.
What is the function of the pelvic floor?
Support your internal organs; bladder, uterus, & bowel
Support to the vagina and anal passages
Plays a large role in supporting the pelvis alongside the external pelvic and deep core muscles
How can the pelvic floor weaken?
Pregnancy - the increased load
Straining when opening your bowels (constipation)
Increased standing (e.g. working as a teacher, hairdresser...)
Chronic cough
Symptoms of pelvic floor weakness

Incontinence: leaking of urine either during a specific activity, when moving or even at rest
Incontinence with strenuous activity
Heaviness in the vaginal area / under carriage
Discomfort in the vaginal area / under carriage
Loss of gas/ flatulence without control
Pelvic pain
