At Perfect Balance our preference is a Manual therapy approach to diagnosis and treatment of our patients. Manual Therapy is the use of “hands on” techniques by physiotherapists to assess and treat their clients with skilled hand movements and skilled passive movements of joints and soft tissue. Treatment using manual therapy may include moving joints in specific directions at different speeds to regain movements. This is known as joint mobilization or manipulation. We are all trained in mobilization (high velocity low amplitude movements) and manipulation (high velocity low amplitude thrusts) which are used to restore optimal motion, function and/or to reduce pain.

Other manual therapy involves muscle stretching, passive movements of affected body parts or having the patient move the body part against the therapists resistance to improve muscle activation and timing. There are also techniques known as Muscle Energy Techniques (METs) which are a popular form of manual therapy particularly helpful for correction of Sacro-Iliac and pelvic mis-alignment.

Our Perfect Balance team choose specific soft tissue techniques to improve mobility and function of tissue and muscles. These include the use myofascial release, soft tissue massage and release, trigger point therapy for soft tissue tension. In short, while we do use some electrotherapy and techniques such as cupping, dry needling and taping, all of our physiotherapy sessions involve a manual therapy approach. This is one of the features which differentiates us for many of the other Physiotherapy Centers in Abu Dhabi. At Perfect Balance we guarantee you a one to one physiotherapy session with a strong emphasis on manual therapy.
